Atheists, don't you at least admire the strength of religious convictions?

Not really. In my experience, the stronger the faith, the weaker the person. It comes from fear of what happens if they don't do those crazy things, or greed and the want of heavenly rewards, or just plain cowardice in the face of unjust authority, among other things--none commendable.
